original music
watermusic [2022]
watermusic was created from start to finish in a few intense weeks in very early 2022. The original theme was going to simply be the piano itself: every song features piano sounds - some more traditional, and some more processed and harder to recognize. The water theme came later, when I realized the imagery behind most of the songs had something to do with water in some form or another. I also made a music video for each track, most using (now rather primitive) AI techniques in various forms.

delta station [2020]
Delta Station was written in 2020, and was the first serious attempt of original music I had made in many years.
Delta Station is a bit of music I wrote in homage to the idea of ‘space travel’ as it existed in the 70’s and early 80’s. In those days, there was an enormous amount of optimism about the future of space travel, colonizing other planets, and contacting beings from other worlds. In fact, in 1977, the Voyager spacecrafts were sent into space with an included ‘Golden Record’ which contained music, pictures, and other sounds. The express purpose was someday reaching other intelligent life and communicating some basic information about our world.
That inspiration formed the basis for Delta Station. I drew from some of my earliest musical heroes – Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, and others 70’s synth pioneers, as an inspiration. Their music is permanently linked with ‘space’ and science fiction films of that era. It was a lot of fun to go back to some of my earliest influences to write this!
The text that is in the final part is a letter written by then-President Jimmy Carter included with the Golden Record. It speaks to a time when we were so hopeful for the future, a future which we thought would be better, kinder, and gentler. Those words take on a deeper meaning today.
This is a present from a small distant world, a token of our sounds, our science, our images, our music, our thoughts, and our feelings. We are attempting to survive our time so we may live into yours. We hope someday, having solved the problems we face, to join a community of galactic civilizations. This record represents our hope and our determination, and our good will in a vast and awesome universe.
